Want a chance to get really hands-on with some pretty cool things from the past? Here's your chance!
The Creston Museum is getting ready to open for the summer with its annual clean-up day. This is the day when we get rid of a winter's worth of dust from the exhibits. So when we say "Hands-On Day," what we really mean is "Dusting, Sweeping, and Straightening Day."
But, in order to do that, you have to get really up-close and personal with things that, generally, we try discourage people from handling. This is the one time each year that you can pull out a display case and check out the things that are inside it. Or find out for yourself just how heavy that two-man chainsaw really is. Or take a really close look at the dishes, needlework, medical tools, or whatever else grabs your interest.
Just clear off the cobwebs while you're at it, okay?
Bring a broom, bucket, and/or rags, rubber gloves if you want them, but no cleaning solutions - rags lightly dampened with clear water is all we use.
Everyone welcome - kids, please remember to bring a grown-up with you.
We'll have coffee, juice and goodies for you, and a break room set up for you to enjoy them in (please no food and drink around the artifacts!)
Heavy lifting is definitely NOT required - there are many many exhibits in the museum that contain only small objects.
